Changes to Canucks Jerseys for Upcoming Season
Hockey fans and jersey enthusiasts can expect some subtle yet significant changes to the Vancouver Canucks’ uniform as Fanatics takes over from Adidas as the official NHL jersey supplier for the upcoming season. The new jerseys feature several updates, with one of the most noticeable changes being the removal of the dimpled fabric on the shoulders, a distinctive feature of the Adidas-era jerseys since 2017. Fanatics touts the new shoulder fabric as offering a sleeker appearance compared to its predecessor.
Among the new features introduced by Fanatics are enhancements aimed at improving the durability and performance of the jerseys. These include an additional layer of fabric inside the lower sleeve to increase uniform durability, specifically designed to reduce material wear resulting from sustained friction against the boards. The new shoulder fabrics replace the debossed pattern fabric used on the previous NHL jerseys, while a new NHL Shield execution on the front neck of the jersey includes a special hologram finish. Additionally, Fanatics branding is now embroidered on the back neck of the jerseys.
Fanatics has secured a 10-season deal to be the official outfitter of NHL uniforms, with the uniforms being manufactured by SP Apparel, based in Quebec. Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin expressed pride in unveiling the first-ever Fanatics branded NHL uniforms, highlighting the collaborative effort with NHL players, the NHLPA, equipment managers, teams, and the NHL in designing the new jerseys. The feedback received from various stakeholders guided the design process, with a focus on meeting the needs and preferences of the players and teams.
NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman emphasized the importance of preserving the quality, performance, and design of the NHL uniforms, a sentiment echoed by Fanatics in their commitment to serving both players and fans. The partnership aims to uphold the history, tradition, and respect associated with NHL jerseys while incorporating modern elements to enhance the overall design and functionality.
Canucks captain Quinn Hughes shared his admiration for the new jerseys, praising the vibrant appearance of the Canucks logo and the breathable fabric. The feedback from players and teams during the development process has been overwhelmingly positive, with the new jerseys receiving acclaim for their aesthetics and comfort.
The new jerseys will be available for purchase in four different types, including authentic pro, premium, breakaway, and a retail version of the practice jersey. Fans can anticipate these jerseys hitting the shelves in September, offering a range of options to support their favorite teams in style.
