Tennessee Reveals New ‘Volunteer State’ Uniforms for College Football Dawgs

The University of Tennessee football team is renowned for its iconic uniforms in the world of sports. Recently, the Volunteers unveiled the new “Volunteer State” uniforms for the upcoming football season, showcasing a fresh look and design.

This unveiling marks the continuation of a significant collaboration between Nike and the Tennessee Volunteers, two esteemed names in the realm of sports. The “Volunteer State” uniforms are the product of this influential partnership, promising a fusion of innovation and tradition that embodies the essence of the team.

In the previous season, the Volunteers donned the “Artful Dodger” uniforms to pay tribute to Condredge Holloway, the first Black player to start at quarterback in the Southeastern Conference. Holloway, who played from 1971 to 1974, earned the moniker “Artful Dodger” for his remarkable skills on the field.

According to Tennessee Vice Chancellor/Director of Athletics Danny White, the objective was to infuse a modern twist into the team’s storied tradition. The upcoming ‘Smokey Grey’ uniform is a testament to this vision, honoring the legacy of Condredge Holloway while offering a contemporary aesthetic for the current student-athletes.

The new concept uniform, developed by Tennessee’s in-house creative agency, 151 Creative, in collaboration with Nike and the Volunteer equipment staff, introduces a fresh alternate uniform for the team. This unique design reflects a blend of creativity and functionality, setting a new standard for the team’s apparel.

For the first time in team history, the front of the jersey will feature “Tennessee” beneath the iconic “Power T” logo. The uniform will also incorporate the tri-star logo on the shoulders and pants, along with elements from the Tennessee state flag to enhance the overall aesthetic.

The helmets will showcase the familiar orange “Power T” logo along with mountain designs in shades of grey, inspired by the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. The incorporation of the Tennessee state flag’s white stripe on the helmets and pants adds a distinctive touch to the overall look, complemented by a “Smokey Grey” face mask for a standout appearance.

Tennessee fans are eagerly anticipating the release of merchandise featuring the new “Volunteer State” uniforms, available later this month at various retail outlets and the official team store. The introduction of these fresh uniforms represents a blend of tradition, innovation, and pride for the Volunteers and their dedicated fan base.
