Sacramento State Unveils Exciting 2024 Brand Refresh

The official retirement of the slogan “Redefine the Possible” has been announced, making way for a new catchphrase to take its place. The campus community has been advised to anticipate further details and guidance on this change in the near future. While existing printed materials featuring “Redefine the Possible” can still be utilized for up to a year or until stocks run out, the community is encouraged to refrain from incorporating the phrase in any new printed or digital communications.

In addition to the retirement of “Redefine the Possible,” various logo variations and graphic elements that are seldom used or frequently misapplied are also being phased out. Similarly, existing printed items containing these elements can continue to be used for a year or until inventory depletion, after which they should be discontinued in new communications.

Among the elements being retired are the white-handled primary logos, two-color primary logos, formal horizontal logotypes, nickname logotypes, two-position integrated logos and logotypes, as well as the “Dot swarm” and “Rivers as a pattern” graphic elements. These elements, which have served their purpose, are now being retired to make way for a fresh visual identity.

For a comprehensive list of all visual identity elements being retired, a document has been made available for reference. This move to retire certain elements aims to streamline and refresh the visual identity of the campus, ensuring a cohesive and updated brand image moving forward.
